I dip my toes in waters crisp and cool
where the end of the waves recede into the day.
Who knows what others stood
where I contemplate the beauty laid.
I hesitate to walk further in
where the waves can’t be tamed by strength within.
I walk forward. The water feels warmer on my skin.
It’s evident whatever fear has been,
is gliding away like a feather in the wind.
I dive in.
The refreshing shock exalts me
unlocking a newfound sensitivity.
Now I crave this embrace.
It’s your hand on my waist.
It’s the space you allowed just my toes to engage
new waters without the need to haste.
It’s your arms wrapped around me as you lift me off the ground.
It’s your laugh becoming my favorite sound.
When no one is around, it’s the beat of our hearts
as I long for the waves of your touch to surround.
Stretching as far as I can see,
the peaceful waters ripple like the sheets when our bodies meet.
You massage my feet and kiss my toes while I read.
Miles from the ocean we lay at home.
My devotion progresses with the notion that I can be
surrounded by your waters,
yet entirely free,
full of new emotions,
but entirely me.
